  • School Reopening Update Letter

    Fri 19 Jun 2020 Mrs H-S

    Dear Parents & Carers,

This week, we were delighted to welcome our F2 (Cygnus Class) and Year 1 (Aquila Class) children back to school in addition to F1 (Cygnus Class). The staff are very proud of how well our children have adapted to the current changes in the school environment.

We will be continuing these arrangements for the week beginning 22nd June:

F1 children in Cygnus Class: 9:00am – 12:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

F2 children in Cygnus Class: 9:15am – 12:15pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Y1 children in Aquila Class: 9:30am – 12:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The staggered start and end times of the sessions remain the same. Your child can be dropped off and collected at the school gate where they will be supervised by a member of staff. Please ensure that you keep to these times so that we can maintain social distancing guidelines. For this reason, children will not be allowed on to the school site earlier than the stated time for their year group.

Our school will be closed for deep cleaning on Wednesday in order to maintain the highest standards of health and safety.

The school continues to be open for key worker provision from 8:45am -3:30pm. If you consider yourself to fit the criteria for key worker provision, places must be applied for via the application form. This is available from our office: office@hps.snmat.org.uk Please be aware that children can’t transfer between key worker and year group ‘bubbles’. Any children in F1, F2 or Year 1 will be placed in their year group ‘bubble’.

Each ‘bubble’ has a maximum capacity of 10 children. If you declined a place in F1, F2 or Year 1 but then decide that you would like your child to attend, please do not just turn up on the day. Please contact the school office and we will advise you if a space is available.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that our families adhere to social distancing rules outside of school if their child is attending the provision. Families that do not follow the government’s social distancing guidelines will not be allowed to use the provision for 14 days until the risk of infection has passed.

The safety of our school community is paramount. Whilst we appreciate that the current situation is frustrating, we hope that you understand that the decisions schools are being asked to make are complicated. It is unlikely that any school can provide exactly the same provision as another, even if it is in the same locality.

As always, I will keep you updated as we continue to review the situation based on our capacity, risk assessments, government updates and SNMAT guidance. Thank you to our families who have been so supportive in these challenging circumstances.

    Best wishes…and stay safe,

    Mrs H-S

  • SNMAT Letter To Parents - IEB

Thu 18 Jun 2020 Chris Moodie -CEO SNMAT

The following update, written by the CEO of SNMAT, has been sent out to our families on Class Dojo today. It can also be found in the 'Letters' section of the website:

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you of a change in governance at Haggonfields Primary School. You will be aware that the school joined the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT) earlier this year. We are very keen to improve the quality of education at Haggonfields and are working closely with the school’s leaders. To accelerate this improvement, SNMAT have put an Interim Executive Board (IEB) in place. This is a small group which will take on the duties of the governing body in the short term, in order to concentrate on getting the important things right. When things have improved we will ensure that a full governing body is in place. Information about the IEB will be posted on the school’s website, along with how parents can make contact should you need to do so.

The IEB has identified the four key priorities as:

    • Improving the quality of teaching and learning.
    • Implementing a curriculum that inspires and excites all learners.
    • Ensuring that pupils with special educational needs receive the support that they need.
    • Improving leadership at all levels, including governance.

SNMAT will be in touch in the future to keep you updated as to the progress that we are making.

    Yours faithfully,

    Chris Moodie

    Chief Executive Officer

Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT)

  • School Reopening Update Letter

    Fri 12 Jun 2020 Mrs H-S

    Dear Parents & Carers,

This week, we were delighted to have some of our F1 children from Cygnus Class back in school.  They all settled in quickly and adapted well to the current changes in our school environment.

From Monday 15th June, we will also welcome back the F2 and Y1 children from families who have confirmed a school place.

We have staggered the start and end times of the sessions. Children can be dropped off and collected at the school gate where they will be supervised by a member of staff. Please ensure that you keep to these times so that we can maintain social distancing guidelines.

Our school will be closed for deep cleaning on Wednesday in order to maintain the highest standards of health and safety.

Each ‘bubble’ has a maximum capacity of 10 children. We have already contacted the families of children in F1, F2 or Year 1 to confirm that they are returning to school. If you declined a place but then decide that you would like your child to attend, please do not just turn up on the day. We may not have the capacity to accommodate your child in that ‘bubble’. Please contact the school office and we will advise you if a space is available.

The school continues to be open for key worker provision from 8:45am -3:30pm. As throughout the closure, and in line with government guidance, this group must be prioritised. As we extend our provision, children can’t transfer between key worker and year group ‘bubbles’. Any new key worker children places must be applied for via the application form. This is available from our office: office@hps.snmat.org.uk

Our staff are continuing to provide online learning via MS Teams, Class Dojo and the school website for all pupils who are working from home.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that our families adhere to social distancing rules outside of school if their child is attending the provision. Families that do not follow the government’s social distancing guidelines will not be allowed to use the provision for 14 days until the risk of infection has passed.

I will keep you updated as we continue to review the situation based on our capacity, risk assessments, government updates and SNMAT guidance.

    Best wishes…and stay safe,

    Mrs H-S

  • School Reopening Update Letter

Fri 12 Jun 2020 Chris Moodie - CEO SNMAT

The following update, written by the CEO of SNMAT, has been sent out to our families on Class Dojo today. It can also be found in the 'Letters' section of the website:

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you in order to provide an update on the re-opening strategy of SNMAT’s partner academies:

    • All primary academies welcomed back more children, as planned, on 8 June. Headteachers are reporting that the new safeguarding measures have been working well.
    • Where there is capacity to do so, primary academies plan to welcome more children back on 15 June. For some academies, full capacity has already been reached.
    • Secondary academies will begin welcoming back students on 15 June.
    • We must continue to act with caution: Yesterday, a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19 in one of SNMAT’s partner academies. We are following the government’s guidance in our response but this reinforces the clear message that we should proceed with caution. I know that you will join with me in sending the very best of wishes to this member of staff.

As we look forward, there is an ever-growing body of speculation about how and when things will change. We are very keen to welcome more children back into academies as soon as it is safe to do so. For this to happen, the government’s current guidance will need to change substantially. In advance of this happening, we are currently modelling how the changes that are being spoken about (for example - a reduction to 1 m social distancing) would impact our capacity for more children to attend. Ultimately, our capacity will be determined by the number of staff that are available and the class size limit that we can apply (currently 15).

May I once again thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new landscape. We will continue to place the needs and best interests of young people at the very centre of all our decisions as we move forward.

    Yours faithfully,

    Chris Moodie

    Chief Executive Officer

Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT)
