  • Keyworker Childcare Access

    Tue 24 Mar 2020 Mrs H-S

I am writing to reiterate the importance of government guidance which states that you should send your child to school only if you have to, because your work is critical to the COVID19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home, you should. This is for their safety and yours.

If you are at home, working from home or off work, or you have a relative that can care for your child, then you must make arrangements for the care of your child and you should not send them to school.

Last night, the country was effectively put into lockdown by the Prime Minister to prevent people contracting the virus and to support the NHS in dealing with this crisis. The staff in school that are caring for your child are willingly putting themselves at considerable risk because they believe it is their social responsibility to support key workers who are critical to the country’s response to COVID19. It is my job to ensure that they, and the children accessing the provision, are protected as far as possible from the virus; this includes limiting the number of people on site at any one time.

If, as a keyworker, you are able to make provision for your child to be at home you must do so in order to reduce the risks to everyone involved: you, your child, school staff and the wider society.

If you have any further queries or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  • School Closures

    Fri 20 Mar 2020 Mrs H-S

From Monday 23rd May, the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. The Government has released the list of Key Workers this morning. The list shows which parents and carers are able to request a place in school from Monday. We aim to provide a daily school experience for as long as we can but this depends on a number of factors:

    • The number of pupils who to take up the offer being sufficiently low
    • The number of staff well enough to teach being sufficiently high
    • Any future change of guidance from the government

However, in order to keep this going as long as possible, we are asking that your request to take up this provision is as a last resort and that wherever it is possible, your children stay at home. The government are clear in their action plan that the best place for your children is at home currently.

A list of all jobs that fall under the Key Worker eligibility can be found at the bottom of the link below:

     https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Once you have studied the list of jobs, if either you or the other parent/main carer in the child’s main home works in any of the roles listed and you wish to register your interest in a school place, please contact the school office to complete a form. We must receive requests by 1pm today please. We intend to confirm our offer for a place at school by the end of the day today. Thank you.
